1. Our Commitment
WinUTrips is built to be fun, fair and transparent. Our competitions are skill-based prize competitions — not gambling — but any activity that involves spending money should be approached sensibly. We want entering to stay a bit of fun that you can comfortably afford, never something that causes you or those around you harm. This page explains the tools and support we offer to help you stay in control.
2. Skill Competitions, Not Gambling
WinUTrips operates prize competitions in compliance with the UK Gambling Act 2005. Every entry requires you to answer a skill-based question. Because of this, our competitions are classed as prize competitions rather than gambling, and are not licensed or regulated by the Gambling Commission.
That distinction does not change our responsibilities to you. We still take player welfare seriously and apply the safeguards set out below.
3. Staying in Control
A few simple habits keep entering enjoyable:
- Set a budget. Decide in advance what you are happy to spend, and never enter with money you cannot afford to lose.
- Entries won't win back what you spend. Buying more tickets improves your odds in a single competition, but it is never a way to recover money.
- Take your time. There is no need to rush — new competitions open regularly.
To keep spending in check, we cap purchases at a maximum of 50 tickets per person, per competition (bonus tickets are free and may be added on top). We also monitor account activity and may contact — or restrict — any account that shows unusual or concerning purchasing patterns.
4. Taking a Break
If entering stops feeling fun, it is easy to step away:
- Pause your account. Email [email protected] and tell us how long you would like a break for. We will suspend your account for that period, during which you will not be able to buy tickets or enter competitions.
- Close your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from your account settings.
If you have asked us to pause your account, please do not open a new one to get around it — contact us instead and we will help.
5. Signs to Watch For
It may be time to take a break, or to seek support, if you find yourself:
- spending more than you planned, or more than you can comfortably afford;
- entering to try to win back money you have already spent;
- hiding how much you spend from family or friends;
- feeling anxious, low or preoccupied about competitions;
- neglecting work, studies, family or other responsibilities to enter.
None of this means anything is wrong with you — but it is a good moment to pause and reach out to one of the free, confidential services below.
6. Protecting Under-18s
You must be 18 or over to hold an account or enter any WinUTrips competition. We verify age at sign-up and may ask for proof of age before paying out a prize. If we find that an under-18 has entered, the entry is void.
If you share a device with under-18s, please keep your login details private and consider using parental-control tools. Free filtering software is available from providers such as Internet Matters and Net Nanny.
7. Where to Get Help
If you or someone you know needs support with spending or gambling-related harm, these free and confidential UK services can help — no matter what you spend money on:
- National Gambling Helpline — free, 24/7, on 0808 8020 133.
- GamCare — advice, live chat and free counselling — gamcare.org.uk.
- GambleAware — information and support finder — begambleaware.org.
You may also have heard of GAMSTOP, the national self-exclusion scheme. GAMSTOP applies to licensed online gambling operators; because our competitions are skill-based and not gambling, WinUTrips is not part of the GAMSTOP scheme. To take a break from WinUTrips specifically, use the options in section 4 above.
